Hi y'awl. I threw all the crap in the box and it works (amazing!). Problem is, I can't get the processor speed any higher than 700 MHZ without the computer hanging. Since the processor is a XP2400, I think it should go a bit faster than that, no? Is there a trick to setting the multiplier/bus speed setting? When set to 700MHZ, the computer boots properly. Any higher, it dies on save changes and exit. I tried various combinations of multiplier/speed settings anywhere from 1 GHZ to 1.93. Any thoughts? I was wondering why I can't set my bus speed abouve 247? Maybe Im looking at the wrong thing. It is Award BIOS... The board is an a7v333-r. Is it possible that I have an outdated BIOS? Cpu voltage is set at 1.68. There is almost no usable info on the AMD site (at least not any thats written in English..)

You should have a program called live update on the cd that came with your motherboard. If you dont then go to the Asus site and get it. With this program you dont have to boot up with the floppy, aflash, etc. Simply fire up live update: it is a windows bsed program. It will walk you through the steps and download the correct bios for you. Once its done simply reboot and viola! newest bios. This is a complete idiot proof (I did it!!) method to flash your bios. I am not implying you are an idiot, but simply that if I can do it, anyone can. This is coming from a guy who's 12 year old niece had to show how to burn tunes using Nero!! lol

In the manual for the XP Chip and/or the Motherboard it should tell you the correct settings for bios. And then all should be fine.

You should be able to download the manual for the ASUS website for the motherboard and the AMD website for the XP chip, but like i said before i recommend getting the latest bios for your motherboard as your CPU is quite new.
